Use Scrubby only for your "risky" emails — not for your whole list. That is where it earns its keep, and it keeps your credit spend down.
The pattern that works:
- Run the full list through your existing SMTP tool first
- Send only the addresses it could not resolve to Scrubby
- Merge the results back before you send
Why those addresses are the ones that matter:
- SMTP tools (ZeroBounce, NeverBounce, MillionVerifier) return these as *Catch-All* or *Accept-All* rather than valid or invalid — the server accepted the handshake, so they cannot tell you more.
- Data providers (ZoomInfo, Apollo, Cognism) return them as *Risky* or *Guessed*, or attach a confidence score under 90%.
Either way you are left guessing on a segment that is often a large share of the list. Scrubby resolves that segment specifically, which is why running your already-valid addresses through it is wasted spend.
